John earned a B.S. Degree in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, holds an Airline Transport Pilot certificate, and has accumulated over 40 years and 17,000 flight hours in the aviation industry. His experience and background include Line Captain, Flight Engineer, and Ground Instructor, Part 121, both domestic and international; Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, Check Airman, and Flight and Ground Instructor, Part 135; Chief Flight Instructor, part 141; and Chief Pilot of a corporate flight department. His exposure to all facets of the aviation industry has made him an essential part of the Mid South Jets leadership team and his efforts to create a professional aviation organization emphasizing safety, efficiency, and transparency has led to Mid South Jets' success and growth.


donJim Lance - Assistant Director of Operations

Jim brings over twenty-seven years of aviation experience to Mid-South Jets. He holds a Bachelors in Science Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Professional Aviation, an ATP certificate, and remains current as a Certified Flight and Ground Instructor. Jim brings to Mid-South Jets a wealth of experience as a senior military and civilian instructor in both rotary and fixed wing aircraft. His type ratings include CL-65, B757/767 (fixed-wing) and S70 (rotary-wing). His professional background includes Instrument Examiner and Standardization Instructor Pilot for the US Army, Line Captain and Assistant Manager of Line Standards in Part 121 operations, FAA Principal Operations Inspector for several Part 135 operators in Alaska, and Lead Curriculum Developer/Ground and Simulations Instructor under Part 121.). His experiences also include training and standardization program evaluations and development.  The management and oversite experiences Jim brings to Mid-South Jets allow for numerous approaches to problem-solving in daily operations. His positive, team-building style is recognized and admired by the pilot group, making Jim not only a knowledgeable and very competent pilot, but also an exceptional mentor and role model for the rest of the Mid-South Jets pilot group.
